On April 14, 2008, I cried like the day my son was born. I thought it was so great to have the Iowa Barnstormers return to Arena Football. However I didn't understand something that night until this year. The Real Iowa Barnstormers Died for good, on a Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals, to Nashville, as they score the final 14 points to defeat Iowa, 49-42. That was the death of the Iowa Barnstormers. I hated Jim Foster for so many years for so many reason's. However I do understand Jim Foster would have never allowed the Iowa Barnstormers to become what they now are. a team living off past history. With the League going South other Indoor League having better talent and high pay it's only a matter of time before the league is died. I will always hold a small part of my heart for the Barnyard for the fans, for Kurt, for Willis Jacox -who was so fun to watch but one of the worse sports stars dealing with the public. He was the only player on the team the last game to not show up to sign poster's for the fan's. He was to busy in the parking lot. Doing activity's that wasn't smart then or now.
The Owner's just don't get the league or the business. They will keep giving this team 20% effort and hoping for 110% return. Player don't want to play for this team. Not just players from outside of Iowa but players with family in Des Moines are leaving. The fan's are gone and that has less to do with winning and more to do with the Sunday School audience that want at game's. Sit, NEVER stand. Don't swear. Hold hands and sing the Republican view points of are CULT like owners. Thank you for every player that has giving this team 110%, thank to the real fans.
RIP The Real Iowa Barnstormers.
