Four INTs lead Iowa to 55-42 Victory over Pittsburgh

Four INTs lead Iowa to 55-42 Victory over Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA. – The Iowa Barnstormers used a complete team effort to earn another road victory Friday night as they defeated the Pittsburgh Power 55-42 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA.  With the win, Iowa improves to 2-2 on the season, while Pittsburgh falls to 1-3.  The victory was the Barnstormers second win on the road this season, after winning just once away from home all of last season.
The first half was a back and forth battle between the two teams.  Iowa took a 7-0 lead on the first of two first-half Rodney Filer touchdowns.  Pittsburgh responded as WR PJ Berry scored on a 30-yard pass to tie the game 7-7 at the end of the first.  The second quarter was much of the same.  Iowa took a 20-14 lead when LB John Mohring recovered a Craig Camay kickoff in the end zone for a Barnstormers touchdown.  However, Pittsburgh came right back as Berry returned the ensuing kickoff 57 yards for a touchdown.  The teams headed to the locker room with the Power holding a narrow 28-27 lead.
Iowa came out strong in the third, scoring the first 14 points of the second half.   DB Jason Simpson celebrated his 29th birthday by recording back-to-back interceptions to enable Iowa to take a 41-28 lead.  Pittsburgh narrowed the lead to 41-35 when QB Andrico Hines found WR Mike Washington from 5 yards out as time expired in the third quarter.
Iowa took the ball to open the fourth quarter and Head Coach Mike Hohensee found himself with his biggest dilemma of the young season.  Faced with a 4th-and-6 deep in their own territory, the Barnstormers gambled and the gamble paid off as QB J.J. Raterink connected with WR Chris Matthews for a 44-yard score, increasing Iowa’s lead to 48-35.  Filer added his third TD of the night with less than two minutes left to ice the game for Iowa.

The Real Iowa Barnstormers are dead!!

On April 14, 2008, I cried like the day my son was born. I thought it was so great to have the Iowa Barnstormers return to Arena Football. However I didn't understand something that night until this year. The Real Iowa Barnstormers Died for good,  on a Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals, to Nashville, as  they score the final 14 points to defeat Iowa, 49-42. That was the death of the Iowa Barnstormers. I hated Jim Foster for so many years for so many reason's. However I do understand Jim Foster would have never allowed the Iowa Barnstormers to become what they now are. a team living off past history. With the League going South other Indoor League having better talent and high pay it's only a matter of time before the league is died. I will always hold a small part of my heart for the Barnyard for the fans, for Kurt, for Willis Jacox -who was so fun to watch but one of the worse sports stars dealing with the public. He was the only player on the team the last game to not show up to sign poster's for the fan's. He was to busy in the parking lot. Doing activity's that wasn't smart then or now.

The Owner's just don't get the league or the business. They will keep giving this team 20% effort and hoping for 110% return. Player don't want to play for this team. Not just players from outside of Iowa but players with family in Des Moines are leaving. The fan's are gone and that has less to do with winning and more to do with the Sunday School  audience that want at game's. Sit, NEVER stand. Don't swear. Hold hands and sing the Republican view points of are CULT like owners. Thank you for every player that has giving this team 110%, thank to the real fans.

RIP The Real Iowa Barnstormers.

News from Livermore- Dallas Clark has no plans to retire, But?

It seems he is done. Many people in the NFL have said he has nothing left. Dallas Clark would like one last year. Like more football players we want's to walk away on his terms. However only a very few are given that chance. Dallas Clark Football ride has come to an end. Thank for everything. I played against your oldest brother. I still see you taken a small 5 yard pass against Purdue and running 95 yards for a touchdown. You were a joj to watch. Small town Iowa Boys will always love the Great Dallas Clark.

Dallas Clark's Career Might Be Over

The old adage in the business that is the NFL is this: If, after the start of free agency to the beginning of the March owners meeting, you haven't signed a new deal with a team, you are either done or you're going to sign a one-year deal, vet-minimum deal.
So, what do it think it means when Jacob Tamme has a new contract and Dallas Clark does not?
Tamme, who has always been Clark's back-up, and who is clearly an inferior tight end when all is said and done, has three-year, $9 million contract with Denver. Meanwhile, Clark hasn't even gotten a sniff.
I mean, nothing.
This leads inquiring minds like me to believe that Clark might be done. I'm not the only one thinking this either.

Star-divide
Wow.
This tweet from Breer last week floored me a little bit. When I started tweeting that Breer was reporting via a source that Clark's career might be over (because he, you know, was), Breer responded back with these:

Clark was flat out cut by the Colts back on March 8th. He had two years left on a six-year, $36 million dollar contract. Last year, he started 11 games, caught 34 balls for 352 yards, and scored two touchdowns. However, last year Clark was battling back from a freak wrist injury he sustained in 2010, and it was obvious something wasn't quite right.
According to Breer's scout source, it really is not right. Since Clark was cut, I have not heard or seen anyone that is interested in signing him.
So, unless we see the Colts ink him again for a one-year deal, which would be demeaning for a player who was once as high profile as Clark, then he's done. If so, that's sad. Not sad from a monetary point of view. Dallas made a boatload catching passes for Peyton Manning for eight years. I just liked watching Dallas play, and if this is how it ends... well, sad.
