Fran McCaffery is Iowa's mew Basketball Coach!! Who in the hell is Fran McCaffery

Why didn't Iowa get a bigger name, after We are the Iowa Hawkeyes!!! but do you want to pay a basketball coach more then the football coach? we AFTER all in the word of Steve Alford A Football school. ( Granted Coach Alford helped out with that)

Hansen said Iowa's "wish list" included Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl, UNLV's Lon Kruger and Pittsburgh's Jamie Dixon - but money was an issue.

"They were asking more than you were going to pay (Iowa football coach) Kirk Ferentz," Hansen said.

Hansen said Iowa also talked about other potential directions to consider.

"The B.J. Armstrong scenario, the (Tennessee assistant coach) Steve Forbes scenario, to (former Hawkeye) Kevin Gamble - we covered everything," Hansen said.

Barta denied, however, that any "scenario" involved Armstrong being an official candidate.

"We need B.J.'s help," Hansen said Monday, "but at this particular time we need a coach."

Barta added: "We considered and talked with dozens of coaches during the search. Some received serious consideration, some were interviewed, and some didn't make a final list."


You have to love Bobby Hanson, he tell the truth. He even said Keno Davis was called and said he had to much respect to his player right now to leave.



What will happen?

Fran will have a great 5 years at Iowa and will then leave Iowa for a better job. The Hawkeye nation will chase off the coach even during good times. History has a way to repeat its self.
